So, you want to sponsor a refill point?
You might not hear it, but there’s a round of applause going on right now, just for you. By joining Newport Water’s Hydrate Barbados campaign, you are doing something monumental. You are changing the future. Making the world better for everyone.
Seriously, kudos. But, there’s still the boring bit to get through.
What you need to know:
How do our Hydrate stations differ from the regular drinking fountains?
– Capacity
With a mininum capacity of 70 litres of chilled water per hourand up to 140 litres per hour, the Hydrate Barbados station has a capacity approx. 5 times the average fountain
– Reporting Intelligence
The HB station allows for monthly and quarterly report for both host and Sponsors on the number of water bottles filled in a given period.
– Options
With the Hydrate Barbados station you have the option of chilled or room temperature purified drinking water
– Hygiene
Rather than individuals drinking directly from a spout the Hydrate Barbados station allows only filling water bottle. Water bottles do not need come in contact with the dispenser nozzle
– Vandal resistance
Hydrate Barbados station are built tough and are designed to be vandal resistant
– Size
Hydrate Barbados station towers above the regular drinking fountain in both height and width, with the biggest station, standing 4 feet wide and over 6 feet high and 2 feet deep.
– Filtration
Every station carries a world-class & state of the art level of Reverse Osmosis filtration
– Maintenance
Every station is subjected to a rigorous and disciplined maintenance program including quality checks, filtration changes and anti-bacterial sanitizations
Why are hydrate stations a need in our schools?
Research done at schools over a period of time indicate that students were:
1) bringing a limited amount of water from home,
2) drinking water from the bathroom or garden taps
3) utilizing poorly maintained and often times unhygienic drinking fountains
4) purchasing bottled water or sodas at a minimum of $2.00 each (where students had to spend, sodas were by far the more frequent choice)
Many were doing one or more of the above. For example, a student who brings water from home would often run out of water during the day and would end up drinking or refilling at either the garden or bathroom taps.
Hydrate stations are set to raise the bar on hydration access, hygiene and health at every school by making pure refreshing drinking water the most accessible beverage on every school campus.
Why should YOU become a Hydrate Barbados sponsor?
As a sponsor, you enjoy outstanding brand and CSR exposure PLUS:
1. You are bringing the benefit of refreshing hydration to thousands of Barbadians and visitors
2. You are making Barbados a better more enjoyable place
3. You are cultivating the habit of drinking water which contributes to the health of our nation

How much do sponsors pay?
Sponsors pay a monthly subscription fee along with a one-off set up fee for our full-sized and mini stations.

What does the payment cover?
Your set up fee covers just that, set up. That includes building, printing and wrapping of the station. Newport sees to all technical requirements, including the initial filters, other equipment and sanitizations of your station.
Your monthly subscription covers routine sanitizations and services of the machine, including filtration and equipment changes or updates.
Newport will also respond to service calls where necessary and do everything in our power to make your station look and perform its best!
As a sponsor, you enjoy outstanding brand and CSR exposure. Station launches are covered by most media houses and on occasions are attended by prominent members of our community.
How can I find a host?
Newport Water is already working with the managers of a range of public places willing to host water bottle refill points. These hosts include controlled areas, such as schools and hospitals. As well as fully public zones, such as beaches, shopping malls, parks and town squares.
If you have another location in mind we will be happy to reach out for you and make your dream a reality!
Is there a cost to the user?
NO. Hydrate water stations bring FREE, purified and refreshingly chilled drinking water to all Barbadians and visitors.
Where can Hydrate stations be placed?
Hydrate Barbados stations are designed to be positioned in high-traffic, visible indoor or outdoor locations (yes, they are designed to be exposed to the elements). These locations must have or can get the needed services – water, 110V electricity and drain.
Locations include: Schools, universities, colleges, boardwalks, parks, beaches, bus stands, recreational and entertainment centres, airports etc.
What is the size of a station?
We now offer varying station sizes. You can see all dimensions here.
Typically, what should branding be?
The drinking stations will be branded for the Sponsor. Both Newport and the Host will review and approve of branding.
Corporates will typically brand stations in their chosen environment with a message, product or a combination of both which speak to their audience. Branding includes logos and colours.
Is the Hydrate barbados station filtered? If so, what type of filtration is used?
Every station is fitted with superior submicron carbon filtration technology which provides superior chlorine taste & odor reduction and micro-filters dirt and particles as small as 0.5 micron in size.
This filters the existing tap water making it crystal-clear, removing odour and taste impurities while reducing possible health contaminants such as asbestos fibers and a number of microorganisms including cryptosporidium.
10,000 litre plus capacity
NSF/ANSI Standard 53 certified
What is the point-of-contact sanitization?
A large percentage of our stations will also carry UV – The UV-C light mercury vapors are lethal for any type of microorganism (bacteria, virus, fungus, algae etc.): it is for this reason that water treated with a UV-C sterilizer is bacteria free
