About the Bay Gardens group
Bay Gardens Resorts in Saint Lucia premier, locally owned and female-led hospitality group founded in 1995 operating multiple properties in Rodney Bay Village and Gros Islet. It employs between 201 and 500 workers across its hotel group, and serving over 750 guests at maximum capacity.
Operating four hotels, luxury villas, and multiple restaurants, the brand stands for authentic Caribbean hospitality, environmental stewardship, and deep community partnership. By rejecting the typical isolated mega-resort model, they focus on creating a sustainable “home away from home” atmosphere that celebrates grassroots regional pride and direct economic empowerment.
At the core of their work is a strict commitment to sustainability, evidenced by multiple properties earning Green Globe Gold Certification. The group has completely phased out Styrofoam and single-use plastics while utilizing smart energy systems and local farm-to-table culinary models. Beyond eco-tourism, they actively upskill regional workers through their own hospitality training programs, ensuring that the financial benefits of local tourism remain directly within the Saint Lucian community.
Why their team made the switch

Before partnering with Newport Water, Bay Gardens Resorts relied heavily on single-use plastic water bottles for both guests and staff. Every guest room was stocked with disposable bottles, creating unnecessary plastic waste across the resort’s four properties. As the resort strengthened its commitment to environmental responsibility, the team recognized the need for a more sustainable hydration solution that would reduce waste while maintaining a high-quality guest experience.
The Impact
The introduction of Newport’s bottle-less water dispensers transformed how water is accessed throughout the resort. Staff members now refill their own reusable bottles at conveniently located water stations, while guests are provided with elegant glass bottles in their rooms that can be refilled throughout their stay. This simple operational change significantly reduced the resort’s dependence on single-use plastics while making clean, filtered drinking water readily available for everyone.
Switching to Newport also played an important role in Bay Gardens Resorts’ sustainability journey. By eliminating thousands of disposable plastic bottles, the resort strengthened its environmental initiatives and supported its successful achievement of Green Globe certification across all four properties.
The Result
Beyond its environmental benefits, the Newport solution enhanced the overall experience for both guests and employees. Pauline Francis noted the exceptionally light, crisp, and refreshing taste of the water, while the constant availability of chilled drinking water proved especially valuable in the Caribbean climate. Whether serving guests enjoying their vacation or team members working outdoors, Newport delivered a convenient, refreshing, and sustainable hydration experience that benefits everyone.
